Day 25

Today the camera club that I am a member of started back up for the season. It was great to go back. We had a guest speaker tonight that gave a quick over view of some of the basics of taking and composing great photos.
One of the best things he said tonight was "the best camera is the one you have with you". I completely agree! This is one of the main reasons I started this blog with just my phone. I always have my phone with me and I can capture whatever strikes me with it.
Sometimes I think to many people get caught up in what name brand they have or how many pixels or how big their lenses are. To a certain degree, none of this matters.
You could have a $10,000 camera, but if it's at home, you're going to miss that opportunity!

More to come tomorrow.

Day 24

Today I have a quick little lesson. The term is called "selective focus". What this does is put part of your photo, or the main subject of your photo, into focus. This then throws the rest of the image out of focus and makes it less dominate.
This isn't a great photo, but, it is a great way to demonstrate selective focus. Half of the leaf is in focus and half is not. This forces your eye to the part in focus and takes it away from the out of focus area. This simple technique and really enhance your photos!

Day 23

Wasn't feeling good at all today :( so I didn't go out much. My husband and I decided to take our dog for a walk down to Tim's and we always walk through the train station. I've always like the train station here. It's one of the few decent looking historical buildings we really have left here. I like it at night best I think. The way the lighting accents the building is nice. Here's a shot though the trees.

Day 22

So I'm getting bad with forgetting to post. You would think after 20 days it would be part of my routine by now. At least I haven't forgotten to take the photos :)
Here is my photo from day 22. We went out to look at a new vehicle and I found this! 1979 Red Camero :) unfortunately it was in terrible, terrible shape.... Oh and I don't have a drivers license so there's that too.

Day 21

I had to go get blood work done today. When I was leaving, I noticed this pretty cool painted garage door. No idea who painted it, if it was a project, graffiti or someone just felt like doing it. When I left I went and sat in the lark for a few minutes. I took a shot of the playground. Made me think of how excited I was when I was a kid to see a playground. Now I just think most of them seem dirty :(
I saw the biggest ant I have ever seen in my life there too but he was moving way to fast to get a decent shot with my camera phone.
My last shot is of a lobster. It was endless shrimp at red lobster and I went with some people I used to work with. Was good to see them all :) we had a pretty decent amount of time to wait so I took some pics of the lobsters in the tanks. Soooo full after that though!

More to come tomorrow!

Day 20

My picture for the 20th day is a little different. Nothing really caught my eye. Until I got home. I was hanging a towel up to dry and noticed the texture of one if them. Sometimes there's nothing better then a nice soft towel :)
I did use my flash this time. The reason was, it highlights the closest part of the towel, the part I wanted to focus on.
It also created more depth in the texture and highlighted the contrast between lights and shadows.

Day 19

I'm a little behind since I forgot to post the other day so I'm double posting today! I am keeping with my project though, as the photos were all taken are the correct days :)
My photos from yesterday were from my walk home. I went a little different way again and walked through part of the "new" downtown. Of course some of the older more historic buildings are still there :)

Here are my photos for today. Enjoy!
